Once upon a time, a poet Qu Yuan
had a great love for his kingdom
Chu and wanted it to remain
independent.
But there were others told the king
that Qu Yuan was a liar.
The king believed them. Qu Yuan
was exiled.
When Qu Yuan found that Chu
was invaded, he was so sad.
He walked into the Miluo River.
He was drowned.
The people respected Qu Yuan a
lot. They rowed boats to search Qu
Yuan.
They threw some rice into the
water so that the fish wouldn’t eat
Qu Yuan’s body.
Qu Yuan is still remembered today.
Every year on the fifth day of the
fifth lunar month, we eat rice
dumplings, and hold the Dragon
Boat Race.
