This course points at down weighting and functional vehicle materials. They are four topics to be focused: aluminum alloy, engineering polymer, composite material, and ceramic. This course will give students the systematical knowledge about the structure, composition, properties and manufacturing process of the automobile materials listed above. Moreover, the application and development in real automobile industry will be introduced.

This course is designed to improve the students’ capability in drafting various commonly seen auto parts. Through tutorial sessions using commercial engineering computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Solidworks, the students are expected to earn hands-on experience and to learn projection theory, to understand graphic standards, and to perform 2D and 3D modeling. The materials learned in this course will be the fundamentals for other courses related to advanced Computer-Aided Engineering and Computer-Aided Manufacturing.

Lectures also introduce several electronic circuits employed in automobiles.

The lab course is designed to teach how to design electronics circuits and how to measure electrical signals from vehicle electronic circuits. It contains the labs for characteristics measurement for diodes, rectifying circuits, clipper and clamper circuits, various bias circuits for bipolar transistors, the common-emitter amplifier, the common-collector amplifier, the multi-stage amplifier, and operation amplifier circuits. A term project which designs and builds an electronic circuit is required in this course.

This course includes two parts. The first part will let students be familiar with programming language (Fortran, Visual C++) for simulation. Students then have the ability of writing, compiling, debugging, and running a computer program. Purpose of the second part is to let students be able to write algorithms and run programs to solve engineering problem or to simulate engineering systems. Further, the programs will be installed in experimental modules to verify the simulation results.

This course is designed to foster the students’ understanding and interest in the areas of thermal-fluid via experimental means. The experiments designed are simplified but are still good reflections of industrial applications. The various experiments include the measurements of fluid density, pressure, velocity, and viscosity; the fabrication of thermocouples and temperature measurement using thermocouples; the evaluation of heat fin performance; laser welding; flow visualization; and flowrate measurements via Venturi tubes.

This course introduces the theories of dynamics measurement system. It covers velocity sensors, acceleration sensors, pressure sensors, and temperature sensors. For the velocity and acceleration sensors, both the linear and rotational sensors are discussed. Sensor practicing will also be arranged in the course such that students can be familiar with the characteristics of the sensors and know how to manage the sensors.

Recently, governments have increasingly influenced technological trends in the powertrain through regulation of emissions, fuel economy, and fuel specifications. In the longer term, depletion of the favored fossil fuel-petroleum-must be considered. Against this background, any long-term view of automotive propulsion must examine (a) alternative fuel/energy sources, (b) combustion engines, and (c) electric propulsion options. This course is focused on the issues mentioned above. The technologies and the long-term trends of all the possible solutions, such as electric vehicles, fuel cell for vehicles, new generation of diesel fuel system, CNG fuel system, and hydrogen-fuelled vehicles are introduced.

微處理機所授課程分為兩部份,第一部分介紹8051晶片的內部硬體架構,及組合語言指令,第二部份為實驗課程,包括輸出/入埠的控制、中斷應用、計時/計數器的應用、以及鍵盤掃描等都會在實驗版上進行實驗,相關支援工具的使用如Winice模擬器的使用也都屬於實驗課程範圍。本課程必須繳交一實際設計並製作之單晶片應用電路作為課程專題。

This course is divided into two parts: lectures and labs. Lectures introduce the hardware structure and the assembly language instructions for 8051. Labs include various experiments for I/O ports controls, applications of interrupts and timer/counters, and the keyboard scan. All the experiments are done in a 8051 experiment board. The Winice simulator will also be used in the lab course. A term project is required in this course.

In addition, from the civil point of view, the damages for tortuous conduct should be confronted first. “How much is the damages?” and “How is the distribution of responsibility to the parties” will also be addressed in this course. Based on practical cases and court judgement introduced in this course, the students, hopefully, can clearly learn to protect themselves.

This course introduces the basic principles of electric vehicle design. It also discusses the characteristics of vehicle dynamics. For the first part, vehicle structure design principles and the characteristics of driving motor and tire are introduced. For the second part, vehicle longitudinal and lateral dynamics are covered. In the course, the recent electric vehicle structures are compared. Moreover, this course is also to teach students how to search, to study, and to apply vehicle testing regulations. This course focuses on the introduction of vehicle performance testing (which include acceleration, maximum speed etc.). CNS, JIS, and SAE regulations concerning automobile and motorcycle are discussed in the course.
