2. A variety of authentic online materials (audio files, video clips, reading texts), to be announced.

Course Objective

The goal of the class is to help you learn and improve reading, listening, presentation, and vocabulary skills necessary for college-level course work. The class will be implemented in the form of lectures, discussions, group activities, and presentations.

Group Project
For the project, you need to do a search online and find an English talk that impressed you. It doesn't matter where you find the talk. Each group will need to prepare a 15-minute presentation base on the talks of your choice. More details will be discussed in class.

Course Requirements

Participation and Attendance

1. Participation is crucial to the success of your learning. You're expected to ask questions, answer questions, and share information in different ways.

2. The tests will be taken on scheduled dates, and no make-up tests.

3. You're responsible for getting class notes and handouts, if late or absent from class. Absence from class will not be an acceptable excuse for missing assignments or tests. Also, late homework will be subject to a penalty of 10 points.

4. Three absences without any reason will result in failure in the course.

Quizzes: There will be quizzes and exams based on the materials in the textbooks and the materials presented in class. Please preview and review the class materials every week.
