The following is what Eve said in an interview about her life:
“I can’t thank the Watsons enough for taking me in and making me a part of their family. Never in my
wildest dreams did I think they would take a chance on a teenager like me, but I’m glad they did.
As the oldest in Glory House, I had given up on anybody wanting me. That’s because most of the couples
that I saw there wanted babies first. I can understand that because the babies would grow up and not have any
memory of their real parents. Then, if the couples had no other choice, they would consider the younger
children. Very few of them ever looked my way, so I stopped making an effort and just kept to myself.
On the day that Becky and Jim showed up, I was reading a book in the far corner of the yard. I was
surprised when they came over and sat down beside me. They asked me about the book and how I liked it, and
I told them what I really felt. Becky liked how I saw the story because she had felt the same way when she read
it as a kid. Jim liked the way I spoke my mind, even to strangers. He saw how strong and confident I was.
They told me later that was the moment they knew I was the one for them.”
