() Afternoon Tea
Many people in Taiwan like afternoon tea, served from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in restaurants. They can enjoy many kinds of dishes,
snacks, cakes, drinks, and coffee on high chairs at a high table comfortably. But do you know when and where the traditional afternoon
tea began ?
The story about it began back in the mid 1800s in the UK. In those days, lunch was served at noon, but dinner was not ready until 8
or even 9 o’clock at night. One day, Anna Maria Russell, Duchess of Bedford, felt hungry during the long afternoon. She began to have
tea, sandwiches and cake served at a coffee table in her room in the afternoon. Then, she invited her friends to enjoy the meal with her,
and it became the “in-thing” for the upper-class women in the country. The boring, hungry afternoon became their everyday happy time.
Therefore, they had Low Tea and also called it Afternoon Tea, a light meal served between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

“tea” until 6 p.m. after work. People called it High Tea because they enjoy it at high dining tables while Low Tea was at low coffee
tables. The foods were different from those at Low Tea, too. The workers would have meat pies, fish, bread with butter, and some tea or
coffee.

() Words May Kill
We have the freedom of speech on the Internet.” We may hear these words every day and everywhere. On the Internet, with
anonymity, people think they can say anything freely and safely because they can use other names. Some people may say something bad
to hurt other people. What may happen after that? They never think about it.
Words may kill people. We can see some examples from the news reports. Some famous people in Taiwan or other countries got
these hurtful words on Facebook or Instagram. Everyone may have this kind of experience. Besides, there would be some terrible
effects. People may start to be afraid of seeing their fans, friends, and family. They may feel lonely and sad. Even worse, some may even
end their lives.
Of course, we have freedom of speech in Taiwan. But it doesn’t mean we can use it to hurt people. How could these words make
a person lose his/her life? We would never know. If we don’t think more before we use words, something bad may happen. Will these
words hurt people? What will they do if these words hurt them? Will they end their lives? Next time when you are going to press the
“ Enter Key,” think more carefully. Also, what should we do when other people hurt us online? Ask your teacher, family, or friends to
help you. At the same time, believe you are good and don’t hurt yourself.

me, and the driver helped me get on the bus.
After I got off the bus, I had to go to the gym. However, there were so many bikes and scooters on the sidewalk. I couldn’t get
through it. I could only go along the road. I was afraid because the cars were passing very fast.
When I got to the gym, the thing was even worse, There were no elevators for me to get to the third floor. I almost gave up, but
some students came to help me. If I didn’t meet them, I could only go home without playing the game. I thanked them for the help.
