Long time ago, there were three mice living in a deserted house in a small town. Their biggest dream was
to find much food to eat without worrying about dying of hunger.
One day, an oil businessman came to the town to sell oil. Because the businessman had no place to live in,
he stayed in the deserted house for one night. Then in the late night, the good smell of the oil is full of the
house and the three mice sniffed it. “Here’s oil! I won’t be hungry anymore,” every one of them thought
happily. But the oil was on the bottom of a big bottle, and they couldn’t get it from the rim. After talking
about it, the three mice thought of a smart way. Biting the former’s tail, they could line up and hang down to
the oil. After the first mouse was full, he had to climb up to be the last one. In this way, all of the three mice
could drink the oil by turns. In the beginning, things went well as they thought. But when the first mouse
drank the oil, he changed his mind. The oil tasted so delicious and he decided to drink it up. The second
mouse thought it was a stupid thing not to be the first one to drink the oil, so he planned to open his mouth
and tried to get as much oil as possible. Worrying his two friends would drink up all the oil, the third mouse
opened his mouth, too. Just at the moment, the three mice dropped into the bottle at the same time. Although
they all drank the oil successfully, they could never get out of the bottle by themselves.

Isaac Newton was born in Lincolnshire, England in 1643, and grew up on a farm. When he was a boy, he
made many great things like a water clock and a sundial. However, Newton didn’t get high grades at school.
When he was 18, he went to study at Cambridge University. He liked science and math a lot. But in 1665 a
serious flu broke out in England, and Cambridge University had to close down. Newton then went back to the
farm. One day, he was drinking a cup of tea in the garden. Then he saw an apple fall from a tree and thought
“Why do apples fall down but not up?” From then on, he tried to know more about the idea of gravity. People
can’t see gravity, but it can pull everything to the Earth and keeps the planets moving around the Sun.
The idea of light also caught Newton’s eye. He found that white light has all the colors of the rainbow.
Newton also found other important rules of science. He called them his “Three Laws of Motion.” These rules
talk about how things move. Thanks to his hard work, Newton became rich and famous. However, he got
angry easily and often fought with other scientists. “You stole my work!” he usually said.
Isaac Newton died in 1727 at the age of 85. He rests along with English Kings and queens in Westminster
Abbey in London. He is excellent at math and is one of the great scientists in history.
