While those dark days may be gone, the impact and the memory of the

pandemic will live on for years to come.  So far, Ireland has seen over

1.6 million PCR confirmed cases of the disease and there have been more

than 8,270 deaths.  The mix of high vaccination, booster rates and

infection levels means that there is a high level of immunity for now.

Joint pain can be caused by many different things, from arthritis

to bursitis to injury.  Even certain diseases like mumps, hepatitis,

and the flu can cause troubling joint pain.  And with six different

types of moveable joints in your body, you've got a lot of potential

pain points.  Whatever the cause or the location, the result greatly

impacts your ability to perform throughout the day.

An ancient Mexican site more than 1,000 years old has been declared

the country's first archaeological zone in a decade.  Canada de la

Virgen, the modern name of an ancient Otomi ceremonial center, is

located near the picturesque mountain town and tourist destination of

San Miguel de Allende.  The pre-Hispanic site features a large stone

temple complex and other structures, many aligned with astronomical

bodies, and is believed to have reached its peak around 600-900 AD,

contemporaneous with dozens of major Maya cites.

Making poor decisions about who to fight, and where to invest their

really valuable energy, could be that little bit that tips them over

the edge towards actual starvation.  It isn't clear if the fish will be

able to adapt to the changes brought about by coral bleaching quickly

enough, the researchers warned.  It could also have knock-on effects

between species and up the food chain.  Human-driven climate change

has spurred mass coral bleaching as the world's oceans get warmer.

Officials said it has been well received by newlyweds who want to

make their memories at the airport instead of holding a traditional

wedding ceremony or going on a honeymoon.  Thirty-three couples signed

up for the package between September and December last year.  Slots

are up for grabs for October and November this year.

Gas-burning cars will continue to be driven on roads and highways

for years after the last one rolls off the assembly line.  With the
average age for a car now over 12 years, that means even if automakers'

electrify in the next few decades, there would still be carbon-emitting

cars on roads well past the middle of this century.  That reality has

led some countries and states to set more ambitious goals for phasing

out gas cars.  The U.K. aims to stop selling new fossil-fuel cars by

2030, and California has pledged to do so by 2035.

Vaccination has rendered meningococcal a rare disease in Australia.

So why are more cases popping up this year than last, and how can we

protect our loved ones?  Parents and teenagers are being urged to be

on alert for meningococcal symptoms after cases were reported among

young people who attended music festivals and schoolies events in

recent weeks.  An 18-year-old woman from NSW died of meningococcal a

week after attending the Spilt Milk music festival in Canberra.

Herbs that are known to reduce inflammation are fantastic natural

remedies for joint pain.  They help curtail the body's overactive

immune response without causing more problems in the form of nasty

side effects.  Some are best when used topically, such as eucalyptus,

but most can be integrated naturally into your diet on a daily basis

and even doubled up, such as green tea and ginger.

Students of animal social learning, like the authors of this study,

have completely reversed my impression of the field.  They've shown, for

example, that even ants and fish have a respectable amount of social

learning.  Studies like these can be used by conservation scientists as

they develop strategies to protect species.  Otters in particular are

important indicators of an ecosystem's health.

"There is without a doubt an effect of specific noises on animals.

So it's really possible that music can have the same effect", he said,

adding that it could help relieve boredom which has been linked to

stress.  The findings could have practical impacts for the industry

as meat quality is affected by stress in animals.

Cleaning up isn't just for your home.  It can be for your gut, too,

by way of a cleanse.  Juice cleanses and cleanses in general have been

around for a while, popular amongst models and influencers but also

those who want to detox and introduce more fruits and veggies into

their diet.  We also know that there are pros and cons to a cleanse,

especially when done incorrectly, for too long a period or for the

wrong reasons, like extreme weight loss.

Vessels off the East Coast must slow down more often to help save a

vanishing species of whale from extinction, the federal government

said Friday.  The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

made the announcement via new proposed rules designed to prevent ships

colliding with North Atlantic right whales.

Keepers at the Hampshire conservation charity are required by law

each year to complete an audit of the 2,500 mammals, birds, reptiles,

amphibians, fish and invertebrates in their care.  Species such as

Caribbean giant cockroaches and stick insects are counted in groups,

but all others are recorded individually.

Rainfall totals through early Wednesday afternoon could range from

1 to 3 inches.  The highest accumulations are expected in the North
Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains, and more flooding could occur.  The rain

will shift north to coastal Oregon and Washington starting Wednesday

afternoon, giving Central California a brief pause in the rain.

Neymar said Saturday he was "psychologically destroyed" by Brazil's

elimination from the World Cup in a penalty shootout defeat to Croatia

and admitted it hurt more than any other loss in his career.  The

30-year-old scored a superb individual effort to equal Pele's record

goalscoring haul of 77 goals for the Selecao in Friday's match that

finished 1-1 after extra time.  But he never got to take a spot kick in

the shootout that Croatia won 4-2 to move into the semi-finals.
