閱讀測驗:
1. Dear Angie,
I just started my first year of junior high school, and so far it’s been a nightmare. The other kids make fun of my hair, the
clothes I wear, and the way I walk and talk. They seem so different from me, and I feel like I don’t belong there. I was thinking I
could get a new haircut. It could be something like what the fashionable girls have. Also, I could learn to walk and talk like them.
However, the clothes are going to be a problem because my parents don’t really make a lot of money and I don’t want to ask them to
buy newer and more expensive ones. I’m dying to fit in and make some friends at school. Can you help me?
Odd Girl Out
---------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Odd Girl Out,
Having friends is an important part of growing up and of life. However, the ones you get as a result of peer pressure are not
good for you. My advice to you is to be happy and just be yourself. You shouldn’t change who you are for others in the hope that
they will like you. Instead, find someone who is more like you and likes you, and make him or her your friend.

there and cried for my parents.
MattShe was amazing! Not only did she just call out for them, but she even managed to wake them up and get everyone away

3. Here is the preface of Jane Stewarts new book Female Role Models.
Preface
Everyone has a role model, and I’m no exception. Mine is my mother. For most girls, it’s usually their mothers, sisters, or
other famous females from the worlds of movies, music, and sports. The role models they pick often show how they feel about
themselves like mirrors. They can also help or hurt how they develop into adults and how much they value themselves. Since the
beginning of film, movie stars have affected the way people dress, look, and behave. In the past, women with good figures were
considered very beautiful. Marilyn Monroe and Greta Garbo had them, and many women did everything to get those same looks.
However, people’s idea of beauty has changed. Now, the perfect figure is one that is super-straight and super-thin. While some
girls are born that way, most are not, so they are made to believe that they are not beautiful because they don’t fit this image.
