Every year, people throw millions of tons of garbage into the ocean. It hurts the sea and kills the sea animals.
A young man, Boyan Slat, wanted to solve（解決）the problem. Once, when he was swimming, he found lots of
garbage. “I must do something to protect the ocean,” said Boyan. In 2013, he started the company（公司）“The Ocean
Cleanup, TOC”（海洋潔淨基金會）when he was just eighteen. He built a huge net to collect garbage. The net was like
a big bag. It stayed on the sea and easily collected garbage without using any power. With GPS on it, people could find
the net easily. And boats came to take the garbage away every few weeks. The net didn’t hurt any fish because there was
enough room for them to swim away. However, there were still some problems. The flow of the water was too strong
and it broke the net.
Boyan shared his experiences with the world. We should learn from him and take action to save the ocean. We
should use less plastic and help clean the beach. It’s everyone’s job to make the world a better place to live in.
