Halloween
Autism
A blue Halloween bucket has become a sign of being aware of autism. If you see a trick-or-treater
holding a blue pumpkin candy bucket near your house on Halloween, it could mean the person is autistic.
In 2018,
Alicia Plumer
shared a picture of a blue Halloween bucket on Facebook and her autistic son
would be carrying the blue one while trick-or-treating.
"If you see someone who appears to be an adult dressed up to trick-or-treat this year carrying this blue
bucket, he's our son! His name is BJ & he is autistic. While he has the body of a 21-year-old, ___43___,"
she posted on Facebook.
"Please help us keep his spirit alive & happy. So when you see the blue bucket share a piece of candy.
Spread awareness! These special people are not "too big" to trick or treat," she added.
Plumer's post got lots of attention on social media and has been shared nearly 28,000 times on Facebook
since it was first posted on October 18 in 2018.
"As the public becomes more aware of it, we think it could be a wonderful way for kids the little ones
and the bigger onesto join Halloween parties without facing the judgment " Wendy Fournier, leader of
the National Autism Association, told the reporter.
"For those who choose to use them, the blue buckets could offer a quiet way of telling people that this
child or young adult may not be able to make eye contact, or stand wearing a mask, or even say 'thank
you', but they still can enjoy the fun of Halloween as much as everyone else," she added.

Many scientists agree that animals have feelings just like people. They believe animals can experience
things like happiness, sadness, nervousness and excitement.
Whales
Whales are quite smart and can show sadness. In 2018, a killer whale mother was seen pulling her dead
child around for weeks just as she was sad about its death. Another example shows that whales can
understand other animals’ pain. Humpback whales have been seen fighting with killer whales to keep seals
safe. They lift seals out of the water on their backs to keep them out of the danger from killer whales.
Elephants
When an older elephant passes away, its family often stays by the body for a long time, and members will
softly touch the dead elephant’s body. This shows that elephants can be sorry about death. What’s more,
just like whales, they are known to protect other animals, such as people from bad guys in the wild.
Animals’ emotional acts are amazing to discover. There are still a lot inside animals lives for us to dig
out.
