Japan's most famous dog
In front of the Shi buya Train Station in Tokyo, there is a life-size bronze stat ue of a
dog. I t is the stat ue of Ha chi ko, an Aki ta dog. Hachiko was bor n in 192 3 and br o ugh t to
Tokyo in 1924. T he dog a nd its owner, Pro fessor Eisaburo Uyeno from Imperial University,
were inseparable friends rig ht from the start. Eac h day H achiko would ac company
